GP (General Practitioner)
A GP (general practitioner) is a fully qualified and experienced doctor who has undertaken specialist training to become a GP. GPs are experts in the management of a wide range of common illnesses and health problems. Where a GP feels that a patient’s problem requires even more specialist advice, they may refer them to hospital to see a doctor who specialises in just one area of medicine.
GP Registrar
A GP registrar is a fully qualified and experienced doctor who is undertaking supervised, specialist training to become a GP.
GP (General Practitioner)

Locum Doctors
A locum GP is a fully qualified GP who is standing in temporarily for one of our usual GPs who is away for some reason, or if we have a vacancy. You may be offered appointments with a Locum Doctor when calling for an appointment.
Foundation Year Doctor
A foundation year doctor (also called a house officer) is a qualified doctor who is gaining wider experience. They work under supervision at all times to ensure that they always provide good, safe care.
Trainee GP's
We have been approved as a training practice since 2018.

The GP Trainee is a fully qualified doctor near the end of their training to be a GP. We will usually have at least one (but often several!) doctor(s) working with us as they gain experience in general practice. Trainee doctors do a variety of jobs in hospital before spending either six or twelve months with us. As part of the training they are required to video record several consultations and sometimes we do joint consultations with them.

The ANP (Advanced Nurse Practitioner) is a skilled, experienced clinician who is able to consult on a wide range of medical conditions, prescribe medication,
order clinical tests and refer to hospital specialists.
ANPs are educated to Master’s level and have developed the skills and knowledge to allow them to take on expanded roles and scope of practice.
Their practice is characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision-making.
